Kubernetes conquered the planet and is clearly the number 1 in container orchestration. But if you think that Kubernetes will solve all your problems you are wrong. There is simply a advanced entry point and quite a few missing parts that are mandatory for production-grade applications. We helped more than 400 teams to adopt Kubernetes and overcome problems they faced during the design, development, and operations phase. The session is about our experience, achievements, and failures moving open-source projects Kyma and Gardener to manage thousands of Kubernetes clusters.

Piotr started his adventure with software improvement more than 20 years ago as a junior C++ developer. Since then he gained experience in many projects, technologies, and programming languages (java, scala, javascript, go). He tried roles like squad leader, architect, product owner, product manager (and even people manager) to learn that in his heart he is inactive a developer who loves to code. For the last 10 years, he was building cloud-native services and platforms in SAP. Currently, Piotr has a chief architect function in the open-source task Kyma which brings Kubernetes-based technologies into the SAP Business Technology Platform.
