Research from the Santa Fe institute on Complex Adaptive Systems over the last 20 years seems to point to a grand unified explanation of organisational design.
So have we cracked it? Do we now have the answer to the question: how do we make and scale advanced performing software and organisations?
In his Keynote, James explores the relationships between squad topologies, software architecture and the emergent phenomenon of complexity.

Lecture took place on Wednesday, 22nd June 2022 at 11:40 in area 2

James Lewis is simply a Software Architect and manager at ThoughtWorks based in the UK. He’s arrogant to have been a part of ThoughtWorks’ journey for 15 years and it’s ongoing mission of delivering method excellence for its clients and in amplifying affirmative social change for an equitable future. As a associate of the ThoughtWorks method Advisory Board, the group that creates the Technology Radar, he contributes to manufacture adoption of open origin and another tools, techniques, platforms and languages.
He is an internationally recognised expert on software architecture and plan and on its intersection with organisational plan and thin product development. As specified he’s been a guest editor for IEEE Software, written articles, delivered training and spoken at more conferences than he can remember.
James defined the fresh Microservices architectural kind back in 2014 along with Martin Fowler. James’ primary consulting focus these days is on helping organisations with technology strategy, distributed systems plan and adoption of SOA. He freely admits that it’s only by standing on the shoulders of giants that he’s been able to make the contributions to the manufacture that he has.
